A fabulous 1950's vintage dress, from quality U.S label Herbert Sondheim. "Herbert Sondheim started the Sondheim-Levy label in the 1920's, and bought out his partner, launching Herbert Sondheim by the 1930's. The label lasted through the 1950's, Sondheim died in 1966" (Info courtesy of the Vintage Fashion Guild). The famous composer Steven Sondheim is Herbert's son.
This dress features stunning all-over waved topstitching, creating a raised effect on the black crepe fabric. The fitted Fifties silhouette is enhanced by the button through styling.
Excellent condition, one pinhead hole near the hem, not visible when worn as it's backed by grosgrain hem tape. One covered button is very slightly different to the others - only on extremely close inspection.
