A fabulous vintage 1970's dress from Brit designer John Bates, who created the 'Jean Varon' label. John Bates famously designed costumes for the first season of the Avengers, featuring Emma Peel. The dress has a bold graphic print, with huge voluminous sleeves and empire line styling. I suspect the fabric is manmade, but has a lovely fluid, satinized finish.
Excellent condition, the front small 'v' panel insert to the front neckline has been added and handstitched at some point, to create a more modest neckline. Easily unpicked and removed if you prefer a more plunging look!
