- VINTAGE 1940's UTILITY LABEL NOVELTY PRINT RAYON DRESS
PRICE £150 SOLD
Ref #671
A particularly unusual 1940's novelty print rayon dress, bearing the utility label at it's inner hemline. The wonderful bluebell coloured print depicts a Venetian masked ball, with characters including a pierrot, a harlequin and ballerinas. The bodice has tiny gathers to create the sweetheart neckline, with a softly gathered bustline and flattering waist panel. Long ties pull in the waist, and the only fastenings are simple presstuds at the side seam opening. A fantastic example of a utility dress, especially combined with such a quirky print.
Very good vintage condition, very slightly faded under the arms, very minor. There are a few small brown marks and grubbiness to the bottom 2/3 inches of the hem. There are a few smudgy dark grey marks to the lower skirts, which appear to be old transfer from the dark areas of the print, not particularly noticeable when worn due to fabric volume.
